Prof. Balunywa's journey began in a small village where he witnessed firsthand the challenges his community faced — limited access to healthcare, lack of educational opportunities, and a desperate need for leadership. These early experiences shaped his life's mission.

After completing his academic studies and serving in various leadership positions, he realized that true transformation required addressing the root causes: poverty, lack of education, and absence of strong institutional frameworks.

In 2018, he took a leap of faith, founding the Waswa Balunywa Foundation with a small clinic and a handful of students. Today, that clinic has grown into AKB Hospital, serving thousands of patients annually, and those first students have become leaders in their own right.

His philosophy remains unchanged: invest in people, provide quality healthcare, and nurture ethical leaders. The rest will follow.
